Solemn Profession of
Vows of Sister Christine

On the eve of the solemnity of Corpus Christi June 2, our community, Sister Christine's family along with friends from far and near had the joy of witnessing Sister Christine of the Eucharist making her Solemn Profession of Vows.

The community sang the the entrance hymn as Sr. Christine processed in.

Father Bonaventure, OCD proclaimed the Gospel. Reverend Archbishop Charles Thompson preached the homily.

Archbishop Charles Thompson asked Sr. Christine:  " What do you ask of God and His Holy Church?"

Sister Christine answered:  "I ask for God's merciful love, the poverty of the Order, and the companionship of the sisters in this Monastery of Saint Joseph, Terre Haute, of the Discalced Nuns of the Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel."

Sister Christine prostrated before the altar during the litany of the Saints, asking the Saints in heaven for their prayer.

Sister Christine made her Solemn Vows into the hands of Mother Anne: "I, Sister Christine of the Holy Eucharist, desiring to live faithfully with the Blessed Virgin Mary a life of allegiance to Jesus Christ, with my Sisters as witnesses, into your hands, Reverend Mother Prioress, vow to Almighty God forever, chastity, poverty and obedience, according to the Rule and Constitutions of the Discalced Nuns of the Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel."

After receiving Solemn Blessing from the Archbishop, Sister Christine received the Insignia of Profession which consisted of the black veil and the ring as signs of her consecration. They proclaimed that she belong entirely to Christ and to his mystical Body, the Church.  Mother Anne helped the Archbishop veiling Sister Christine.

Sister Christine gave the sign of peace to Mother Anne and Sister Mary Joseph, followed by her family and friends in the Chapel.

After the profession, Sister Christine's family, friends and guests joined the Sisters for the celebration in the Lodge.

Sister Christine's family and relatives from Oklahoma and Fort Wayne, Indiana came to witness Sister Christine's Solemn Vows to God and to share her joy.

The bridal cake was lovely designed and made by the Sisters to celebrate Sister Christine's Profession.
