The Lord is risen! Alleluia!
The beautiful painting of the Resurrection of Christ by Noel Coypel elicits a deep sense of awed reverence and joy. Christ is gloriously wrapped in light, floating up above the tomb. His hand raises high the victory banner. His eyes gaze heavenward. The message is explicit. Christ is gloriously triumphant over death. The tomb couldn't hold Him captive.
In the letter to the Ephesians, Saint Paul reminded us of God's eternal plan, "He destined us to be His adopted sons through Jesus Christ. Such was His will and pleasure that all might praise the glorious favor He has bestowed on us."
We must ever remain in this unshakable faith that Christ's victory is ours. His glory is ours. Death and suffering in this earthly life won't have the last word. Nothing can hold us captive. With Christ, we will pass through and beyond all uncertainty, suffering, and death into His glory.
Easter summons us to joy as we celebrate the resurrection of Christ and continue that joy every day in our lives. Saint Augustine said: "We are Easter people and 'Alleluia' is our song."
This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad! Alleluia!
May the risen Christ fill your heart with joy, bring you new hope, and bless you with peace.
