The Holy Season of Lent

The Season of Lent is a sacred time and an opportunity to reflect more deeply on the meaning of our spiritual lives as children of God, as brothers and sisters of Jesus Christ and of one another. The Church asks us to pray, to fast, and to give alms. This will take on a unique meaning to each one of us, depending on our state of life. But as a Christian family we are united in our efforts and commitment to live more sincerely as disciples of Jesus.
God sent His Son into our world to show us the way to live and love and serve one another, beginning with the least and most vulnerable and poor among us. We do this, not by our own efforts, but with His Spirit, which we all received at our Baptism. Jesus assured us that He is with us always as we go about our ordinary days in ordinary ways, but with His extra-ordinary grace.
He gives us the power to breathe His love into the world around us; to become more forgiving and generous, serving and easing the hardships of the suffering of others, and most of all, to make His Name known in our world; filling our world with the hope of Jesus Christ!
May this Lenten Season be a time of grace and a renewed spirit for each one of us!
