Merry Christmas!
A Savior was born for us this day!
Our long-awaited hope and expectation during this Advent Season is fulfilled in the birth
of our Savior Jesus Christ! The Christ Child was first born in a manger long ago on a
cold starry night that was especially illumined by the star of Bethlehem. He came in
silence and he came unknown into the world, but He also came amidst the deep longing
and hopes of an ancient people Israel. As an infant, He came as Savior to redeem the
people of God.
Today, once again this Christmas, we celebrate that first coming when Jesus came into
our world to save and redeem us! With joy, we realize that our Advent longings of hope
and expectations are fulfilled! They were fulfilled long ago, and they are fulfilled every
single day as we call to mind ever more intently the tremendous love that God has for
us, His people! We see His love for us in one another; in our families and loved ones
and in the stranger and those most in need. He lives among us in a very real way and
as we see Him in those all around us, our hearts expand with love and gratitude and
generosity and we joyfully share His love with one another.
May the joy and peace of the Holy Child fill your heart this holy season and remain with you throughout the year.
