Sister Clare Joseph’s Silver Jubilee

On Feb 8th 2025, our community had a grace-filled celebration of 25 years of religious life of Sister Clare Joseph of the Sacred Heart. It was a private but joy-filled celebration that spanned three days to honor Sister’s faithfulness and generous service in Carmel. The choir and the refectory were beautifully decorated with a blend of baby blue, lavender, and silver to bring a delightful surprise for our Jubilarian. She loves the color blue.

Sister Clare Joseph entered Carmel in 1999 and received the Carmelite habit in 2000, choosing the religious name Sister Clare Joseph of the Sacred Heart. She loves nature and is a skilled gardener. She oversees the community garden, where we grow a variety of vegetables. Additionally, she serves as the community infirmarian.

Sister Clare Joseph has been serving as the Vocation Director for our community for many years and currently holds the position of Formation Director for the Queen of Carmel Association.

Father Mark’s inspiring homily captured the essence of our life together as a community of Discalced Carmelite Nuns. He reflected on 25 years of committed friendship with Christ the Friend and the Bridegroom, 25 years of committed friendship with the other nuns of our community: The friendship that binds nuns in a Discalced community, a shared love for Christ, shared praise of Christ, shared service of Christ that gives us a “common soul.”

And what better way to gather and to remember and to give thanks than by celebrating the Eucharist where our Lord tells us once again: “I call you friends.”

The Jubilee celebration is a special occasion to honor God’s gift of our sister’s life, vocation, and service among us.
